What is an In-Hand Salary Calculator?

An in-hand salary calculator is an advanced financial tool designed specifically for Indian salaried professionals to determine their exact take-home pay. When you receive a job offer, the company quotes an annual Cost to Company (CTC). However, your CTC is not the amount deposited into your bank account. The CTC includes mandatory government deductions like the Employee Provident Fund (EPF), Professional Tax, standard deductions, and Income Tax (TDS). This calculator instantly computes all these deductions based on the latest FY 2026-27 tax slabs, giving you the exact monthly amount you can expect to earn.

How to Calculate Your Take Home Pay

To calculate your exact monthly salary, enter your total Annual CTC (Cost to Company). You will also need to select your Basic Salary percentage (which is typically 40% for non-metro cities and 50% for metro cities). Next, select whether you reside in a Tier-1 Metro city, as this affects HRA and tax exemptions. Once you hit calculate, our engine will automatically deduct the 12% employee EPF contribution, apply the flat standard deduction, and calculate your net monthly in-hand salary.

CTC (Cost to Company) is the total amount a company spends on an employee in a year. This includes direct benefits (Basic, HRA, Allowances) and indirect benefits (Employer's contribution to EPF, Gratuity, Insurance). In-Hand salary is the actual net amount that hits your bank account every month after all mandatory deductions like EPF, TDS, and Professional Tax are subtracted from the direct benefits.

Under the Employees' Provident Fund rules in India, exactly 12% of your Basic Salary is deducted every month as your employee contribution towards the EPF scheme. Your employer also contributes an equal 12% (which is usually included as part of your overall CTC).

This calculator uses the latest standard deductions and tax slabs applicable for the current financial year. Currently, the default calculation assumes the New Tax Regime, which has become the default tax structure in India and offers flat standard deductions without requiring investment proofs.
